Editor menu command to convert or "educate" straight quotes (single and double quotation marks) in the selected text into "smart" or curly quotes.

Provided "as is." Use at your own risk.

By Morgan Adams, Adams Immersive

Notes

Any ' or " that begins the selection, or is preceded by whitespace or any type of left bracket/quote, becomes a left curly quote. Otherwise it becomes a right curly quote.

An apostrophe before a decade ('90s) or as a contraction at the start of a word ('tis) will become a left quote and must be corrected to a right quote manually.

Using a selection that begins with an intended right quote will incorrectly assume it should become a left quote.

Backticks ` become single left quotes.

Already-curly quotes and primes are left alone.
