Editor menu command to perform basic cleanup of whitespace, quotes, and double hyphens, such as when pasting messy text content from a word processing document, email, or PDF.

Notes

Sets all quotes (including backticks but not primes) to curly quotes and corrects their direction if wrong. An apostrophe before a decade ('90s) or as a contraction at the start of a word ('tis) will become a left quote and must be corrected to a right quote manually.

Double hyphens (--) become m-dashes.

Tabs and non-breaking space characters become normal spaces.

Repeated consecutive spaces become single spaces.

Extra spaces are removed from the start and end of each paragraph.

Leading and trailing whitespace is stripped.

Line breaks are normalized as "\n" (newline).

Does not attempt to rejoin unwanted line breaks, nor collapse repeated breaks.
