Select Inside Quotes

Select the text inside quotation marks with a single command.

This extension allows you to quickly select the contents of quoted strings —
including multi-line template literals — without manually adjusting the cursor.

• Selects text inside quotes, excluding the quote characters
• Supports:
• Single quotes '...'
• Double quotes "..."
• Backticks `...` (including multi-line template literals)
• Safely ignores escaped quotes (\", \', \`)
• Ignores Markdown code fences (...)
• Works across all file types (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Markdown, plain text)
• Supports multiple cursors

⌨️ Usage

1. Place the cursor anywhere inside a quoted string
2. Run Select Inside Quotes from the Command Palette
   or use your assigned keyboard shortcut

The inner contents of the nearest quote pair will be selected automatically.

⚙️ Configuration

You can assign your preferred shortcut via:

Nova → Settings → Key Bindings

Suggested shortcut:

Cmd + `

(You may need to disable macOS’s default “Next Window” shortcut.)

🧠 Notes

• Only single backticks (`) are treated as quote delimiters
  (triple-backtick Markdown fences are ignored)
• Works across multiple lines for template literals
• If no matching quotes are found, the selection remains unchanged
